Rose Lavelle, USWNT Midfielder of the Match

A highlight reel of talent, Lavelle has a creative vision for the ball. She made her international senior debut in 2017 when she won the player's of the match award against England. Lavelle is a Cincinnati-born defender

Rose Lavelle from Cincinnati is a soccer player. She started playing soccer at age five in the YMCA's coed youth leagues. She didn't celebrate or smile when she scored her first goal. Instead, she kept her cool and continued playing. She later went on to play for several local soccer clubs, including Cincinnati United Premier Soccer Club. She also played college soccer for the University of Wisconsin.

Lavelle grew to be a Cincinnatian and attended Mount Notre Dame High School. Later she received a scholarship from the University of Wisconsin. She now plays for the Washington Spirit of the NWSL. Neil Bradford, a Cincinnati Soccer trainer has been instrumental in Lavelle discovering her passion for soccer.

Lavelle is a former representative of the United States women’s National Team at both the youth and senior levels. She was named the Big Ten's top Midfielder in November 2015. NSCAA later awarded her the honor of first-team All-American. Lavelle played in the USL W-League for both the Dayton Dutch Lions and Seattle Sounders Women's teams in 2014. Lavelle joined Washington Spirit after graduating college. Lavelle returned to Dayton in time for the 2016 Women's Premier Soccer League season.

Rose Lavelle won Big Ten's Midfielder Award of the Year in December 2015. She was also selected for the U.S. Women's National Team. But, she did not make the game day roster. That's when her frustration began to build. She felt she wasn't making enough progress and was not in the right shape to face the demands of being a national team player. She was able to overcome her fears by meeting Coach Wilkins.

Rose Lavelle, in addition to playing for the Badgers soccer team, is an active member of the university’s community service programs. Rose Lavelle has been involved in Wish Upon a Badger Experience (women's soccer) and Thank-A-Thon (youth soccer clinics). She has also been the brand ambassador for Yuengling's premium light beer FLIGHT.

She has been an integral member of the U.S. Women's National Team

Rose Lavelle, a Cincinnati native, is an American. When she was only 15 years old, Rose Lavelle became a crucial member of U.S. Women's National Team. She played recently in the Czech Republic at SheBelieves Cup. Even though the USWNT was victorious in the game, they still outshot their opponents 18-6. Rose Lavelle was named Budweiser Woman Champion of the Match.

She showed a lot of creativity throughout tournament. Both her teammates as well as her coaches praised her for being a breakout player.

Lavelle is a former player at the World Cup of the United States. She made her World Cup debut with Thailand, but she did not play against Chile. She returned to the United States against Sweden and helped them press their attacks.
